Did you know that Bradford was once the filming capital of the world? This year, in 2025, it was rewarded City of Culture. However, a few years ago in 2009 it was recognised as the (first ever) UNESCO City of Film!

This list contains all locations within the district of Bradford; i.e. those with a BD post code, and within a reasonable distance from the centre.

Keighley Train Station

Believe it or not, Keighley Train Station has only been a 15 minute drive from me for the past 19 years – and I only visited it for the first time around a month ago!

This train station has truly been left in time and Keighley Council have done their best to retain its rich heritage, which is exactly how it should be!

What has been filmed here? According to Filmed in Yorkshire, it’s not just the famous Peaky Blinders who made their way to this famous railway hub, but the cast from All Creatures Great and Small, and the iconic Railway Children once called this spot their place of work.

Haworth

Hop on the train from the previous filming location to Haworth where you will be indulged into another historic village! Haworth is famous for being the home of the Bronte Sisters, and of course their brother, Branwell. The family were most famous for their books, like Wuthering Heights and Jane Eyre.

What was filmed in Haworth? The Railway Children is the most notable movie that was filmed in Haworth. However, not many know that Haworth was the filming location for Wild Child in 2008; a movie featuring Emma Roberts.

Saltaire

The World Heritage Site of Saltaire has been the filming location for some more recent films… some that are not even out yet! It wasn’t long ago that I recall Game of Thrones Star, Kit Harrington doing the rounds on my personal Facebook, as friends flocked to try and spot him.

Saltaire is best known for being the home of many workers of Salts Mill, back in its hey day. You can read all about that, here.

What was filmed here? The most recent project filmed here was ‘The Choral‘ starring Ralph Fiennes, due for release in 2026. Other features created here were Ghost Stories and The English Game.

Bradford City Hall

Built in 1870, the Bradford City Hall is easily known as one of the most iconic buildings in the city, known for its striking architecture, thanks to Henry Francis Lockwood, Richard Norman Shaw, and William Williamson.

What was filmed here? Notable names such as, Fiennes (again), Kiera Knightley and Matt Smith have paid a visit to this beautiful building, when they filmed for the movie, Official Secrets. Other features include, Victoria, The Great Train Robbery and Testament of Youth.

Little Germany

I’ve always been curious about Little Germany. It’s a place that always seems tucked away but the buildings hold so much history!

What’s been filmed here? In little Germany we have other films that haven’t been featured in this article yet. Known for its better filming location over in Halifax, Gentleman Jack was also filmed in Little Germany. Likewise, the popular show Downton Abbey was filmed here.

Richard Dunns Sports Centre

It wasn’t long ago that I was driving past here after work, and they were actively filming here! Richard Dunn’s Sports Centre is a truly remarkable building, and it is a national treasure for Bradfordians. I, for one recall spending every Thursday evening here as a child when I went for my swimming and gymnastics lessons. I know everyone in Bradford would love this to open up again!

What was filmed here? The recent production of 28 Years Later filmed some scenes here – that is due to be released on the same day as this blog post! I can’t tell you in the future where you can find it. But if it isn’t in cinemas, it’ll probably be in Netflix!

Research tells us that you can’t visit this place. However, I can promise I’ve seen plenty of dog walkers take full advantage of the grounds!

Sunbridge Wells

The iconic Sunbridge Wells recently opened in 2017, but it has such a strong history going way beyond that date. Many years prior to its reopening, it was believed to be the UK’s first underground music venues, hosting bands like The Beatles and The Rolling Stones.

Today, it is home to many quirky underground bars. It is a unique place that should definitely be visited on a trip to Bradford – regardless of whether, or not, you’re going to see some filming locations?

What has been filmed here? Recently, the BBC released a limited series that was solely filmed in Bradford. Virdee showcases many areas of the city, and if you haven’t been but you’ve watched the show, you’ll instantly be familiarised when you step foot in the city.

Cartwright Hall

Despite the current filming of Antiques Roadshow, (probably as I type this), Cartwright Hall has been the filming location of a few films.

Cartwright Hall is an art gallery located in the heart of Lister Park, in the Manningham area of Bradford. It first opened in 1904, and is it named after Edmund Cartwright, the inventor of the first wool-combing machine.

What has been filmed here? The Duke starring Helen Mirren, Monty Python’s The Meaning of Life, and the TV Series Utopia have all been filmed here.
