Welcome to Blogmas Day 5! I’m very proud to say I’m from Yorkshire – I honestly wouldn’t like to live anywhere else! The history running through the whole county just makes it shine, and at Christmas time – it literally does! Here are just a few of the great things you can do around Yorkshire at Christmas.

01 – Winter Wonderland in Yorkshire
Have you ever been to the famous London Winter Wonderland? Well, if you’re completely clueless about the UK – London is the capital, but Yorkshire is the largest county in the UK, it also holds the biggest Ice Rink in the North of England at Christmas, and I highly recommend you pay for it a visit! The wonderland itself is filled with lots of fun stalls and the Alpine cafe that is next to the Ice Rink; they’ve even got games dating back to 1933!
02 – Christmas at The Ivy in Harrogate
I’ve personally never been to The Ivy, but my mum has it on her bucket list. She actually booked a meal here once but the trains were on strike and she was absolutely gutted! Anyway, I’ve been doing my scouting around on the Internet, and I’ve found that they’re doing their own little gin festival! Now, I’m a bit like a sheep really, I absolutely LOVE gin! I never used to, but since the hype has come out, I do now!
According to the Internet, The Ivy has completely decorated their terrace with the help of local renowned Harrogate landscaper, Helen James, who has transformed the terrace into a Botanical Garden. I might have to pop over next week with my mum to see this! The Ivy has collaborated with Slingsby Gin to bring you some authentic festive flavours and some Christmas cocktails too!
03 – Visit a Christmas Market in Yorkshire!
There are plenty of Christmas Markets in Yorkshire, you can even visit them all if you like and do a little tour! I’m ashamed to say I’ve only been to the Leeds one, but I’d quite like to go to the others, so here’s a little bucket list for myself! Some of them have now closed (not listed), but here are some of the biggest Christmas Markets in Yorkshire this year!
- Leeds
- Sheffield
- Wakefield
- Skipton
- I would say York, but I mentioned that at the beginning of the post!

04 – Meet Santa on a Steam Train in Haworth
It seems odd me to list this when I don’t have any little ones yet. However, I remember this memory of meeting Santa on the Haworth Steam train to be one of the brightest of my entire childhood. I still remember the little stuffed toy hedgehog he gave me and I remember bringing it on a school trip with me a few months later. So I want to pass that on to someone! I’ll definitely be taking my kids, you know, in a few years when they exist!
05 – Christmas Craft Fayres in Yorkshire
This never used to be a festive tradition until the past 2/3 years, and now I can’t imagine Christmas without attending one of these. I’ve already been to one! This year, my mum and I attended one at Ripley Castle 2 weeks ago, and it was absolutely magical – aside from the rain! I think it all started when my dad started working at Victoria Hall in Saltaire – they have them all the time! I’ve dug on the web again, and UK Craft Fairs have some great ones listed!

So that’s the end of today, don’t forget to head over to my Instagram and see what I got up to in Iceland today! I hope this post gave you some ideas, and feel free to list some more below or let me know if you’ve been to any of these – mini-reviews are always welcome!
As always, if you’re curious, you can read yesterday’s post here, last year’s Vlogmas here, or 2016’s Vlogmas here! Have a lovely day x

Very ashamed that I’ve only been to the Leeds Christmas market as well, should definitely venture to the York one! I really want to visit The Ivy too now that it’s decorated for Christmas! Love this list xx
