How I Found Out That I Was Adopted

Posted on March 17, 2021May 6, 2023 by Emma

I’ll be completely honest; the story about how I was adopted was something that I never thought I’d share on the internet. In some ways, I’m not even sharing the story. That’s because I’m not going to be sharing why I was adopted or my birth family. Anyway, here’s how I found out that I was adopted!

Let’s Start from The Top!

Ok, let’s start with the basics. I was adopted when I was a baby, at the age of 1. I believe I learnt to walk at the age of two; my mum tells me that I was a lazy baby, and honestly, I believe that! When I was little, I’d mastered walking and I started to crawl again! That’s how I think it went anyway…

Also, just a little side note for those who know my voice – I was born in Nottingham… I know, right?!

How I found out I was Adopted

Well, this is gonna be disappointing! That’s because I’ve known all my life! I can never remember my parents telling me, because I think they must’ve embedded into my vocabulary tuition. Adopted must’ve been one of my first words, I’m convinced!

When I attended school, even pre-school, nursery, etc, I told everyone I was adopted. It is always something that has been a part of me, and I’ve never hesitated to tell anyone!

My Upbringing

I had a fantastic upbringing. I was just thinking in the shower (TMI? Oh well), ‘my parents are my soulmates’ because I honestly believe that I was put on this planet to be their child, and I just fit in like a jigsaw puzzle! I remember I’d say around 90% of my childhood, very clearly. I believe this is just proof that I had a good childhood. I’d be quite happy sticking there and never growing up to be honest!

My childhood consisted of travelling, I was quite a shy child but I loved being around people, and that has stuck with me in my adulthood too. You will often find me in a room full of people stood by myself quite happily just soaking in the atmosphere!

My Birth Family

Just before my 18th birthday I took a trip to Ireland to meet my birth siblings. Did you notice how this was posted on St Patricks Day? Quite fitting isn’t it?!

Obviously, I’m going to try my best to not spill too much by revealing who they are or anything. However, I think we definitely have some similarities, looks wise without a doubt, and I also familiar personality traits.

So, I hope that has cleared things up and let you know a little bit more about me! Thank you for reading. I’d love to know a little bit more about you – tell me a random fact about yourself in the comments!

Thank you for reading 🖤
